We are pleased to welcome the state of Utah to YDR. The Utah Consumer Privacy Act, or UCPA for short, took effect on January 1st, 2024, and was immediately available on the platform. The bill can be viewed here (IAPP has done a more detailed analysis).

Utah residents can now submit data deletion and access requests via the website. They can also escalate requests to the Utah Attorney General when companies fail to comply—the smart follow-up assistance option provides guidance in such cases. You can try it now!

Utah is the 5th US state to join the data protection club. Nine additional states have enacted similarly strong data protection laws, which will come into effect over the next two years (IAPP provides a US privacy legislation tracker).

We will keep on adding these new regulations as they take effect.
